IUBH, which won the Cup 2014 and in recent years has consistently achieved very good results, entered the competition this year with a team called “nais” (new artificial intelligence symbiosis). Katharina Pantle, Max Pitzke, Till Pitzer and Till Hoddick represented IUBH in this competition between the best hotel management schools in Europe. Thirty-three institutions from 16 countries were represented.
This year the theme of the competition was “High Touch vs High Tech”. After extensive preparation and two intensive days of competition, the nais team made it to the finals with seven other teams and then on to take an exceptional fourth place. From a total of 14 categories the team from Bad Honnef won “Best Academic Paper” and “Best Debate”. Hospitality Management Prof Dr Beverley Wilson-Wünsch and Tim Kaltenborn, Head of EU Recruitment IUBH Campus Studies supervised the team. The team’s success drew a lot of attention and recognition from the jury, coaches and other teams: especially that it was the only team that did not use any notes in their presentation.
Katharina Pantle, a hospitality management student, looks back on the success at the competition: “It was a really great experience and a great opportunity to meet with industry experts, potential employers and hospitality management students from all over Europe. In addition to the wonderful memories and useful contacts we gained self-confidence and valuable skills that will serve us well in our future careers.”
Team nais, we are proud of you!
