Strengthening quality project based teaching, promoting internationalization and broadening networks – these are the topics of the German-Ghanaian University Partnership Project “Partnership for Applied Sciences – PASS” between Ghanaian universities, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and IUBH. A Ghanaian delegation recently participated in workshops at IUBH in Bad Honnef.
From May 6th to 9th Tourism and Hospitality Professors from two Universities in Ghana, Cape Coast Technical University and Kumasi Technical University, spent numerous hours in workshops working on competency based curriculum development in tourism with IUBH Rector Prof Dr Peter Thuy and Professor Dr David Rempel.
To assist in the Ghanaian tourism development, the delegation also received professional input and had fruitful discussions with three IUBH Professors and lecturers:
1. “Local food for tourists: Economic linkages or neo-colonialism in emerging economies” with Dr Gabriel Laeis.
2. “Inspired by sustainability without Llmits: Radical innovations in the hospitality &tourism industry” with Prof Willy Legrand.
3. “Destination and sales in the tourism industry” with Mr Tilman Flaig.
The delegation was also able to have a presentation and discussion with Tourismus & Congress GmbH in Bonn as well as a private tour through the historical Petersberg Steigenberger Hotel in Königswinter. The organization of the week was carried out by Sonja Keller from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, Dr David Rempel and Prof Dr Peter Thuy.
